Global Deployment Of Rapid Diagnostic Tests to Boost Fight Against Cholera

The arrival of rapid diagnostic test (RDT) kits for cholera in Malawi has kicked off a global initiative to distribute 1.2 million kits to 14 high-risk countries. 

Countries like Ethiopia, Somalia, Syria, and Zambia will soon receive kits which aid in early detection of cholera outbreak and prompt response. This program aims to enhance routine surveillance, testing, and prompt identification of potential cholera cases.

UNICEF and UNFPA Alarmed by Proposed Repeal Of Law Banning FGM in The Gambia

The ban, introduced in 2015, was hailed as a progressive milestone, safeguarding the rights of Gambian women. UNICEF and UNFPA representatives in The Gambia condemn proposed repeal of FGM (Female Genital Mutilation) ban, calling it a severe violation of human rights and a setback in the global fight against gender-based violence.

UNICEF Report Finds Gaps And Bottlenecks in Menstrual Health Services

 

The data highlighted significant gaps in monitoring, evaluation, and evidence, with the need for improvements to inform policy and practice on menstrual health and hygiene. Also, Brooke Yamakoshi, water, sanitation, and hygiene specialist with UNICEF in Bangkok noted that menstrual health and hygiene contributes impacts on health, wellbeing, education, gender equality, and many other rights.
