4.4 million Northern Nigerian Children Face Acute Hunger - WFP
In Northern Nigeria, 4.4 million children under 5 are acutely malnourished- more than double the last year figures, according to the World Food Program (WFP). This is because families are grappling with high food inflation and security concerns, and many can no longer afford to feed their children. In Katsina, the malnutrition clinics run by aid groups; Doctors without borders or MSF have now become overwhelmed due to the increase in malnutrition cases.

Ondo Government Employs More Health Personnel
The State Commissioner for Health, Banji Ajaka, spoke at the Scientific Conference of the Niger Medical Association in the state, emphasizing that the present state administration has embarked on employing more health workers, and also implementing policies to fill the gaps in the health sector. 

Nigeria Launches Molecular  Testing to Improve Cancer Care
An initiative that will change the diagnostic landscape for lung cancer has been launched. Experts are of the opinion that this is a significant milestone in the fight which seeks to build a sustainable future for cancer care in Nigeria. The initiative is the production of EGFR (epidermal growth factor receptor) testing. According to Lolade Adeyemo, the representative of the Minister for State Health, Social Welfare, it would enable medical practitioners to detect genetic mutations early, allowing for more personalized and effective treatment plans. 

Nnewi’s New Medical City
There’s the recent project of the building of a gigantic new medical city rising in Nnewi Anambra State. Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital currently has a low capacity when compared to the demand for healthcare services in the state. The new medical city is  to finding a suitable location to build the Nnewi Medical Village project, which is set to become the largest hospital in West Africa with an estimated bed space capacity of 2,000 beds. The Chief Medical Director, Dr Joseph Ugwuaja has a bold vision to make Nnewi a hub for medical tourism.
