New Cases of Mpox in Nigeria
The Nigeria Centre for Disease and Control (NCDC) stated that a new case of Mpox has been reported in the country, bringing the total number of confirmed Mpox cases to 40 out of the 830 suspected cases. This information was disclosed by the Director-General of NCDC, Jide Idris, during a Joint NCDC/World Health Organisation National Mpox briefing in Abuja. Additionally, the WHO Nigeria Country Office announced that Nigeria is expected to receive a donation of Mpox vaccines from the United States Government.

 Too much consumption of salt causing death in Nigeria.
Dr Jerome Mafeni from the Network for Health Equity and Development (NHED) has cautioned against the health risks of excessive salt and bouillon cube consumption, linking it to conditions like hypertension, which cause 12% of deaths in Nigeria. Speaking at a news conference in Abuja, he noted that many Nigerians consume more salt than the World Health Organisation's recommended daily limit of less than 5 grams, largely due to these products.

 Kaduna community raises alarm over Diphtheria outbreak
Residents of a community in Zaria, Kaduna State, are facing an urgent health crisis with a high risk of a diphtheria outbreak. According to Abdul-Azeez Suleiman, a community elder and Director of Publicity and Advocacy for the Northern Elders Forum, several children are already hospitalized at the Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital (ABUTH) Shika due to the disease. The situation has escalated with the tragic deaths of five children within 24 hours, all showing symptoms consistent with diphtheria.
