Bird Flu Outbreak Confirmed In Kano
A case of a highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) has been confirmed in Kano State by Dr. Taiwo Olasoju of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security. This came after investigations, following an outbreak report earlier this month. HPAI is said to affect several species of birds which calls for concern.

National Assembly directs mandatory hepatitis screening and vaccination in children
The House of Representatives has called for mandatory Hepatitis virus testing and vaccination for children below five years. They also instructed the Ministry of Health to treat positive cases and the Ministry of Information to raise awareness about the virus. This follows a motion by Hon. Kwamoti Laori (PDP, Adamawa) regarding the Hepatitis burden in Nigeria.

Suspected Outbreak of Marburg Virus Disease in Tanzania
The World Health Organization (WHO) has reported a suspected outbreak of Marburg Virus Disease (MVD) in the Kagera region of Tanzania. The outbreak is high-risk at the national level, with at least nine suspected cases and eight deaths, leading to a case fatality rate of 89%. Healthcare workers are among those affected, indicating a risk of transmission within healthcare settings.
